As we near the conclusion of the Winter 2014 competition, Central Coast Football would like to advise members of the Finals Series format for 2014, along with some information about the upcoming U10 + 11 Tournament.
Please see attached:
Due to new work commitments in Sydney, Peter Vaughan of Coastal Keepers, is unable to coach at the Goalkeeper Clinic on Tuesday nights at Duffys Oval. The weekday Goalkeeper Clinic is therefore cancelled for the remainder of the 2014 season. Current Goalkeepers registered in the Clinic will be notified shortly of possible weekend workshops to continue their training for 2014. We would like to acknowledge and thank Peter for his assistance and care in nurturing our young Keepers of the future.
Brad Pettitt (father of Lachie in the U10A's) has donated and installed a 50" flatscreen TV and combo DVD/video player with digital aerial in the clubhouse. This should be a great addition for use by the club.
The Terrigal United FC Executive is excited to announce that Gosford City Council at its meeting of May 27 approved the upgrade of Duffy's Oval and has allocated $455K capital works funding for expenditure in 2014/15 to a Duffy's Oval Major Renovation. The improvements are to alleviate excess surface water from the playing field surface after periods of wet weather and improve the capability for this sportsground to recover with high volume community use from both football and rugby league training and competition. Gosford City Council has initiated the tender documentation for the project with the tender advertisement to be placed next week, closing July 15. We will keep you updated with the project timeframe and scope of works after the awarding of the tender. These works are co-funded by a TUFC secured grant equating to $50K, being co-contributions from Community NSW and TUFC.
Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) have scheduled roadworks to start on Wednesday 11 June 2014 and will be carried out between 8pm and 5am, Monday to Friday. Tools and equipment to be used during the night work include cranes, chainsaws, wood chippers, excavators and jack hammers, asphalt paver and rollers, generators and lighting towers, light vehicles and trucks. Tree removal at night will occur between Bellbird Avenue and Brunswick Road while traffic adjustments and median removal will occur over the full length of the project between Bellbird Avenue and Duffys Road. The first stage of work will include traffic adjustments, median removal and tree removal on Terrigal Drive, which are required as part of the project. To minimise traffic disruptions some of this work will be carried out at night and is expected to take two weeks to complete, weather permitting. Access to properties and businesses will be maintained throughout the duration of the project, however access to all properties will be restricted to left-in / left-out for safety reasons. The right turn from Holmes Road onto Terrigal Drive will no longer be permitted. Please find attached the Community Update for the Terrigal Drive Construction Works for your review. Stay posted to the website for further details and progress.
Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) have engaged BMD Constructions to undertake roadworks on Terrigal Dr and Charles Kay Dr for a planned 18-month construction period. The worksite will extend across the full frontages of Duffys Oval and Carpark and will cause traffic impact on our training and game days. Parking will be the biggest challenge during these roadworks and we ask that all Carpark users be aware of traffic directions and signs that will change from day to day and will either be signposted or delivered by a Traffic Controller. A construction fence is currently scheduled to be erected on Duffys Oval and Carpark on Tuesday June 10. Works are proposed to be undertaken of a night time and weekend during the construction period as the need arises.
Please note that parking on Terrigal Dr and Charles Kay Dr will no longer be available and parking in the Carpark will be reduced. It is recommended that all members, parents, guardians and spectators provide an additional 15-minutes extra before games to make alternative parking arrangements within neighbouring streets or permissible carpark areas, such as the Stadium Carpark. Be tolerate and patience with visitors from other Clubs who are participating in games at Duffys on the weekend and offer some assistance if you can. A 40km/hr speed limit will be applied to the construction zone but care must still be exercised with children crossing Terrigal Dr and Charles Kay Dr. Keep an eye out for each other.
This is an RMS project, but Gosford City Council are working as best possible with Sporting Clubs and Schools to minimise inconvenience to the sporting user groups of Duffys Oval. Please find attached the Community Update for the Terrigal Drive Construction Works for your review. Stay posted to the website for further details and progress.
As previously advised, Terrigal United FC have had to scale back the Goalkeeper Clinic for competition teams, U12s to Seniors. Starting this week there will only be Tuesday sessions and all active goal keepers who have been attending have been duly advised of their new time. All Goalkeeper Clinic sessions on a Thursday have been cancelled for the remainder of the season. Can you please remind your dedicated team Goalkeeper that this has occurred.
Any queries, please email David Stefani at email@example.com.
Goodgear have offered Terrigal United FC a special deal on various clothing that may be of interest to TUFC members - Download Special Offer 2014 - Terrigal United Football Club.
Each team manger will need to make direct contact with Jacqui at Goodgear (Goodgear Sales) to place an order. The minimum order for each item is 10 units. Younger teams may have as few as 6 players, so it is suggested they "buddy up" with another team to place an order (or just order for siblings too!). The gear is great for kids to wear to the games and/or training (it's nice to see a team in club colours coming to a game and it may also help stop the wearing of game shirts to the fields). Additionally teams may like to place an order to give as a gift to their players for the season.
The TUFC Executive have prepared this Duffys Improvements Status Summary to answer the numerous queries we are receiving about Duffys Oval condition after recent wet weather. This has been a long and laborious process to get to this stage and we are hopeful that in the future, Duffys Oval ground conditions are more responsive in recovery times after wet weather impacts. In 2011 TUFC secured grant funding for the upgrading of Duffys Oval, which included improved surface conditions and installation of new subsoil drainage to alleviate excess field surface water and improve the capability for this sportsground to cope with high volume community use from both football and rugby league training and competition. Whilst this funding amounted to $50k, being co contributions from Community NSW and TUFC, the retro fit solutions would not present a holist drainage and ground surface solution.
The project was delayed due to Gosford City Council restrictions on the timeframe for which the improvements could be undertaken, including minimal disruption to pre-approved summer sporting activities and consideration of the best seasonal time for turf remediation post installation works. The years of negotiating with Council on field improvement works has paid off with recent changes in priority on sporting ground funding in the Gosford municipality. Frost Reserve at Kincumber had works completed over the 2013-2014 summer and was given priority because its funding allocation was related to the maintenance of an old tip site located beneath the playing fields. With this new priority came the realisation that our funding could be pooled with other funding allocations that could produce a more advanced scope for ground surface and drainage conditions at Duffys Oval which present far better outcomes for all sporting associations that use the facilities.
Recent discussions with Gosford City Council and representatives from Central Coast Football, Country Rugby League, Terrigal Rugby League, Little Athlete’s and Terrigal Matcham Cricket have presented a set of survey and construction plans that would address a holist surface and drainage solution for all fields. Council’s construction cost estimate for upgrading Duffys Oval is approximately $450k. Council is at this stage seeking funding allocation from a number of sources to prop the limited funding Council has available. These funding sources include NSW government and each of the sporting associations using Duffys Oval facilities. Our 2011 allocation of $50k stands to this day. At this stage once funding is secured, it is proposed to tender for the improvement works in August 2014 and for works to commence in September 2014, outside our football season, to be ready for use in March 2015. Once work commences Little Athletics and Terrigal Matcham Cricket have been asked to relocate for their 2014-2015 season. Further details to come once available.
Coordinating all stakeholders, including government authorities, sporting associations and the general community, to implement field improvements to provide sustainable sporting facilities at Duffys Oval is a challenging process for all and we hope with everyone’s patience, tolerance and commitment to the objectives ,we will achieve our goals.
Note that the Terrigal Dr and Charles Kay Dr Intersection Improvements Works being completed by Roads and Maritime Service (old RTA) are also proposed this year and may coincide with our football season. These road works will have impacts on our traffic flow into Duffys Oval carpark. Further details to come once available.
